Mini Steps: The Evolution Of The Bib Fortuna Minifigure

Bib Fortuna was Jabba the Hutt’s majordomo – a word that many fans probably did not pick up on prior to The Book of Boba Fett even though it had been used in Return of the Jedi. The male Twi’lek was a weak-minded but faithful servant of Jabba, and subsequently took over the throne after his passing.

Although the character has only had two LEGO versions, he seems like a worthwhile inclusion in the Mini Steps series now that The Book of Boba Fett is airing.

The first LEGO version came in 2003 with the release of 4475 Jabba’s Message. Like many others from the time period he required a unique head mold to be created to capture his wrapped lekku. He received a unique torso print and came with a plain black cape and plain dark blue legs. His head print was also unique.

Nearly a decade would pass before an updated version would be released. This version came with a flesh colored headpiece but was the same mold as before. The facial print was updated to be quite menacing but was much more accurate than the prior version. He also received an updated torso print, but the legs and cape stayed the same. He was exclusive to 9516 Jabba’s Palace.

While personally I would love an obese Bib from the end of Season 2 of The Mandalorian, LEGO would have little reason to include him. Unless there are flashback scenes in The Book of Boba Fett he won’t have another opportunity for other inclusions, and LEGO is even less likely to remake Jabba’s Palace which means that it is unlikely that we will ever see another version of Bib Fortuna.
