Will There Be A Game Guide For LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga?

After a long run of 17 years and five books for the LEGO Star Wars video game series, fans will not be seeing a hardcopy strategy guide from Prima Games – or any other publisher for that matter – for the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game.

The Holo-Brick Archive has reached out to representatives at the previously involved parties – Prima Games, Penguin Random House, and Tt Games – for an answer. Penguin Random House has confirmed that they do not have any plans to release a guide for the video game, while Tt Games has stated that they have no publishing partners. Unsurprisingly, Prima Games did not provide a comment.

Having held the license for publishing Star Wars video game guides since 1993 – starting with Super Star Wars Official Game Secrets for the SNES (not to mention 51 other Star Wars titles) – Prima Games entered the world of LEGO Star Wars when they published LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game Official Game Guide in 1995, and continued with LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Official Game Guide (2006), LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Official Game Guide (2007), LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Official Game Guide (2011) and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Game Guide (2016) – but that’s all over now.

Purchased by Random House in 2001 and later absorbed into Penguin Books, Prima was merged with competing strategy guide imprint BradyGames in 2013 to become more competitive. When internet-based strategy guides filled the needs of gamers for free, it was announced that Prima Games would be shut down.

Saved from extinction at the last minute when it was acquired by Asteri Holdings in March 2019, print operations were shuttered and the company decided to concentrate on online strategy guides, as well as expanding into gaming news.

Suffice to say, it doesn’t look like there is going to be anyone stepping in to publish a game guide for the latest title – LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – due out on April 5th.
